Welcome back to Term 2 Silver Birch Class!
The spellings for this term have been added to the Class Page below. Each of the children will be given a paper copy as well. This term we will be looking at a book called Leon and the Place Between, Area and Multiplication and Division. For a full breakdown see the first document about the Termly Overview.
Homework will be the same this Term as last. Children will be expected to take part in some Times Table Rockstars, Doodle, Spellings and Reading each week. How much of each will be considered when the homework is set. Please remember, you can always come and see us with any questions or extra help you might need with the work. We are also continuing to run our daily lunchtime Doodle Club to support all children across the school.
We look forward to seeing you all at Parents' Evening on the 11th November.

ActivKids Fitness Morning with Para-Canoeist Taylor Gough - 25/09/2024
Welcome back to Year 4 and the start of Term 1. In English we will be focusing on Anthony Browne and his book Gorilla. We use this text in a way that allows us to dive deeply into the language and skills used and build knowledge of our ‘Mastery Keys’ in our writing scheme – Pathways to Write.
We will be following the White Rose curriculum for Maths; this term we will be covering Place Value, Addition and Subtraction, Measurement and Multiplication and Division.
In Geography we are studying the rainforest. We are looking at its location, the animals that use it as a habitat, the different layers and structures and the indigenous people who live there. In History we will be looking at the Egyptians.
This year there will be an expectation that all children will complete four tasks each week. How much time is spent on each of the areas, will depend on what has been set and how it fits into everyday life. The four areas are TimesTable Rockstars (TTRS), Doodle, Spellings and Reading. There will be a copy of all this information on each of your children’s help sheet – it should look like the one attached below.
This change has been made to add a level of adaptation to the work that we can set each of your children to complete independently. We can make it easier or harder if we need to. This will allow the children to gain greater levels of routine, independence, depth and consolidation in all areas of their learning. TTRS and Doodle will require access to the internet. However, if there is an issue with this, please let us know privately and we can discuss how best to support your child.
The Homework Club that used to run on a Friday will now be changing to a Doodle club. This will be a place where children can come and begin, and sometimes, complete their Doodle tasks. It will not be a ‘one-stop-shop’ for all their homework needs. Homework will only be effective if the approach of little and often is adopted. Children will still need support with their reading, spellings and TTRS throughout the week at home. How much support will differ from child to child.
Any questions, please feel free to come and see Mr Fenton.
Thank you!
